William Morris tour continues

Welcome back.........we had a lovely day relaxing yesterday....well some of us did! While most of us were stitching Larry and one of the US girls had a game of golf.....

When the golfers were asked who had won the response was...."the course"!! Today has left every member of the crew speechless...and for some of us that is something in itself!! The photos below are a start....

Red House left a lot of us a little perplexed - we had trouble deciding why it felt like it had no soul. Perhaps because it is not in the state that Morris would have left it (some furnishings added or painted over), or perhaps because of the unhappy times Morris had there with complex relationships. It did feel like an empty shell at times but it is definitely a place that one must visit on a Morris tour. I was thrilled to have finally seen it.....

Now just when you think that Helen has reached the pinnacle of a all things Morris she sneaks in a surprise! I was disappointed 2 years ago that I couldn't get in to see the Oxford Union library. We not only got in but just take a look at what she had planned for us.....the outside view first but just wait for the surprise below....

Dinner in the Oxford Union!! Who would have ever thought....but only Helen could manage this. We were all simply gobsmacked (And I snuck in a few photos of the famous library ceiling before we found out we shouldn't!!)
So as you can see it has been an incredible day and we still have two more full days to go. I will save some of the Oxford photos and Exeter College where Morris studied for a later day. Hope all is well in your part of the world - till next time....
