A return to Kelmscott

I am afraid that 'inspirational quilt designs' will have to wait for another post as Kelmscott Manor simply takes over........it just takes me away as it is the most special place in the world! Morris had some of his happiest times here and the peace and tranquillity is obvious everywhere........

A great thrill once again to see my books for sale in their shop!
A little walk down the road takes you to the river where Morris loved to fish. This swan greeted us and then when he (or maybe she?) realised we had no food he turned his back on us in what looked like an "up yours" gesture...he puffed out those wings to create a sail and the wind took him gliding down the river rapidly...it was fascinating.

To wrap 'one's self' in the woven wool in the Manor cafe was such a treat!
We then did a final farewell to Morris's grave and the beautiful churchyard. Instead of a repeat of these photos I thought I would show you the beautiful tapestry kneelers inside the church...very Morris...

The finale tonight was the visit to Broadway Tower - the experience is so memorable. The staff from Dormy House Hotel where we are staying were their to greet us with canapés and champagne.....below is Larry waiting at the base and two of the staff with our treats!

The views of the Cotswolds from the rooftop are amazing and the significance of doing this is that Morris spent many weekends here as a break.......

Below is Penny who has been a friend from Canada who has "dropped by" via the internet for several years. It was such a great thrill to finally meet her in person (and even better that we get on...well I think we do!!). Here she is showing off her brand new purchase from the Cotswold Woollen Weavers......
And her very chic husband Paul.......
Enjoying the bubbles and the view are Larry, Paul and Darren our wonderful driver......

Inside is the history of the Tower complete with all things William Morris.......

So another wonderful day.....Hi to everyone at home and all of you sharing in our journey. I will end with a visitor in the church just for you Faye. Hugs to all....
