William Morris tour day 2 and 3

Sorry there was no blog last night......I've been a little 'under the weather' with this annoying travel cough and cold but I'm back at it! Yesterday was a fairly easy day where we headed first to Burford. The group enjoyed an informative tour of the Burford church which dates back to the 12th century. This is where William Morris first thought of forming the Society for the Protection of Ancient buildings...........
Morris was rather horrified that the vicar was covering the original floor with the terracotta tiles....but he was basically told to mind his own business!

Our friend Vicki is seen here with the church turret clock which was made in 1685...........

Between the rain showers we had a great viewing of the gardens and a special afternoon tea at Bourton House

We then enjoyed a few hours walking and then dining in the charming village of Broadway....and you guessed it - the camera battery went flat! It was still raining this morning as we ventured to Buscot Park to see the gardens, house and attend a William Morris lecture (and lunch) with Denis Moriarty.......

Buscot has such an inspiring garden with both vegetables and flowers growing together........

Vicki joined us again for a few photo opportunities.........
 here with Barb.........

 and enjoying cake............
This afternoon was the preparation for our stitching project.....what a venue for a workshop!........

So it is time for me to hit the sack so we are rested for more adventures tomorrow. Hope all is well in your part of the world x
