Kelmscott House.......
The home of Emery Walker......
and next door where May Morris lived...........
After lunch we take the short trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum where a guide takes us on a Morris journey through the enormous galleries. This year our guide started with pre Morris days - the garish Rococo style and then on to Pugin the gothic revivalist who inspired William Morris......
Following this period we sat in the gallery with the Crystal Palace model where Morris eventually displayed his work.........
The Bullerswood carpet is still on display and it was wonderful to see it again.......
Jason Yenter and I have worked on a new range of fabrics due for release in September which you can see here. The main fabric comes in a few colourways and combines the Bullerswood pattern with the Strawberry Thief.......
and the 'Bullerswood quilt' to accompany the range..........
Back to the V&A and a bit more Morris and other sights.........
The spectacular Ardabil carpet........
I think this embroidered hanging would be quite at home in the 'King's Chamber' Nydia and Ken!.......
And finally......I received this photo from Emily tonight - what a great thrill! It stirred my heart and brought a tear to my eye......the love from big brother to his new baby sister.........just lovely xxx
The birds on the wallpaper (not sure if that is what it is) are simply gorgeous.
ReplyDeletewould love to see all of this one day - you are lucky to see all the art work and all of Wm. Morris!!
ReplyDeleteThe babe and big brother bring a smile - :) I know you miss them
Loving your travels, thanks for the photos and the time you spend doing your blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tour in the V and A. Get any ideas from Pugin? The trefoil panel would make an amazing quilt block!!!
