A special day with a special couple

Three years ago my life changed when I received a very exciting email. Then a few months later in the UK I met the person behind that email - the charming and gregarious Helen from Whitecroft Tours. Helen has a natural ability to make a person feel very special and the William Morris tours (and from 2014 May Morris tours), have been a dream come true for so many, including me. To share in my passion with others from around the world is indeed an incredible experience......so yesterday Larry and I had the wonderful opportunity of spending a special day with Helen and John. The day wasn't an easy start for our driver as the southwest of the UK where we were staying experienced torrential rain and flooding. Many detours and diversions resulted in a slight delay but John took it all in his stride as we headed to beautiful Dartmouth.........

Lunch at Cafe Alf Resco was a treat.......

The ceiling is covered in old newspapers.....
and the boys talked and talked and talked! I suspect that was because Larry has spent the last 3 weeks in the company of women only (brave fellow).....
 but then the food came!.......

The harbour was a little murky from the storms...........

but that didn't stop the adventure. We boarded the ferry......

and then it was another bit of excitement for the day..........I LOVE steam trains (and so does Beau so more of that when we get home)........

 Vicki joined us again....
and even got close and personal with John..........
but his heart is with another............
The famous little beach huts around a bay..........

Our return journey found us in the exclusive Devon Belle observation carriage - one of only two left and we had it all to ourselves.............
 And your carriage Emily......
Back in Dartmouth......

Brittania Royal Naval College can be seen on the horizon..........

And finally we were treated to dinner...but first a visit to Helen's home in Newton Ferrers and look Alison..........our flag was flying!!......
Helen and John's 'local pub' was very special to say the least..........

A perfect ending to a perfect day with the very 'bestest' company. Thank-you Helen and John for a memorable day xx

  1. I love steam trains too, nothing better then taking little boys for a ride in the Cockle Train! I am keeping a list of the fun things you do in UK for when we get there in a couple of years..thanks for being such a good tour guide!
