We are having a fabulous time on tour and today left many visitors speechless. First of all a walk to view some of the history of the wealth that allowed us to see so many treasures of today....
More Morris stained glass at All Souls and some features of the very last stained glass window ever made by Morris & Co and right here in Adelaide........the gold just glowed today.......
Our visits to the David Roche Foundation always leave people speechless with views of one of Napoleon Bonaparte's guns, of two chairs in the house with two of the same in Pavlov Palace....another pair in the house and the other in the Hermitage Museum....rare porcelain and clocks, a fan belonging to the late Princess Margaret that the Queen's buyer had been bidding for at auction but because they left the room to take a phone call they missed out, lots of Faberge and so much more ....in fact there are 3,000 pieces in the collection....and all with Catherine the Great looking on........
Lots of WOW and all in a home! Our day concluded at St Peter's Cathedral for a tour and then a contemplative Evensong to end our day..........and there is more tomorrow!
such a beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteWow! This reminds me of visiting the Huntington Library in San Marino. The home of the Huntington's now houses many treasure like these, but not so many. Thanks for sharing.
