Yorlye kum baek sun

I wasn't going to blog again about our wonderful time in Norfolk but we are in Brisbane for the night awaiting our flight home tomorrow so I thought I would share some more memories on our night off. "Yorlye kum baek sun" is the traditional farewell from Norfolk Island and also means "you will come back soon" so maybe one day we will be back. Yesterday we took in some more glorious sights....

The metals guards are to stop the rats steeling the palm fruit......

There are an enormous number of golden orb spiders on the island and this one was guarding a large sack of eggs.......
On our way to the farewell dinner last night we witnessed a glorious pink sunset sky.........

The organising girls Rowena, Raewyn and Kay, brought in some show and tell and all William and May Morris inspired designs............

Larry tried to get some photos of the four of us but this was the only one that wasn't blurred...........
I received the most beautiful gifts from the committee girls including this locally handmade woven Norfolk hat and bag.........
I only have half an hour of free internet so with that I will say farewell once again x

  3. I think you know I save your posts till I have time to really read and enjoy the photos. So I am just caught up now. The beauty of those Morris inspired stained glass windows-wow! Made a note to look up coconut bread and I wonder would such a metal shield protect my feeders from the squirrels. I assume the palm fruit is hearts of palm which we get in tins here but I love it anyway. What a wonderful, fulfilling trip you both had and all the gorgeous quilting is a bonus!
