Still wet, cold and windy

Our days in Wellington have continued to be wet, cold and windy but we've been told by the locals the wind is actually quite mild at the moment......feels like an icy gale to us! But we have had three wonderful warm days surrounded by quilts. I didn't get much stitching done (surprise, surprise!!) but did enjoy chatting and meeting so many. The first day was extra special meeting up with Anna Williams and even more so as we both have cardiac issues. It is very lonely at times suffering from this daily angina as there is no-one that I know that has the same issue....but Anna knew exactly and we both shared the dilemma of us looking so well on the outside! It will be so nice to have her on the end of the computer for support - thanks Anna xx On our way to the venue each morning the view from the train intrigued me with houses looking like they are perched high up in the trees..............

and a quick snap of the ferns.....everything is so green.......

So back to the show......unfortunately I didn't have permission to take photos of the quilts so instead a little inspiration that I could capture. This is Christine - a Wellington quilter who is making a very large quilt made up of 1/4inch hexagons.....what patience!.......

and Jill who was in one of my classes at the Taupo Symposium four years ago. Jill was on a quilting retreat with friends this weekend but decided she just had to leave for a few hours to bring in her almost completed table runner for me to see.......thankyou so much Jill - it is looking gorgeous.......
So I am sorry there isn't more of the quilts on display that I could share. Instead we will think of family as tomorrow is Father's Day and Larry is here with me. Emily and Brett took their little family for a quick trip to Sydney last weekend.........

and Sophie and Tim have shared a big announcement! We are so excited for them and of course us too......a little cousin for Beau and Maisie and another little one for us to love.......
Emily shared some photos on Facebook of the Easter egg that Maisie found in the pantry and Beau at the shops standing under the scanner to see how much he might cost!!........
Beau has been at school for just two terms and as a five year old I think this is amazing.......
The forecast tomorrow is for another day of rain and chill (not going above 10C), but we will get out and see some sights. Tomorrow night will be very special as we received a lovely dinner invitation from Anne Scott (the editor of New Zealand Quilter magazine) and her husband who was apparently making pate last night!  I've communicated with Anne over the years by email so it was lovely to finally meet her in person. I can't wait to see her book shop either - that is Monday's adventure but for now this is her website - Minerva. So I will share more soon x

  4. Looks like that penguin pattern is going to be very well timed! Perhaps you had better buy a Happy Feet DVD instead!
