'Bott Rot'!

I was sure Mr Google would take me to a link to tell me there is a saying - 'Bott Rot' but it would seem there is no such thing!! Well Larry and I both have 'bott rot' and it is funny that we both grew up with our parents using the term to explain a numb rear end......and we have that right now! We looked like a pair of old crocks when we got out of the car late today having sat in the car for two long days driving. But it is nice to be together sharing memories and taking the occasional photo. On the way to our stop last night we were reminded of how precious water is with these murals at Milmerran showing how it was transported in the 1800's.........

I think this tree is from the Boab family and it looks like someone has made it their home.......maybe fairies?!!..........
We've passed through towns with extraordinary names including Goondiwindi, a name taken from an aboriginal word meaning resting place of birds.........

and a town called Coonabarabran where we stayed last night..........
The landscape has changed as we left the outback behind but there are signs of drought in many areas. Larry heard on the news this morning that some parts of NSW and Queensland have had the driest season in 100 years. It was so nice to see the mountains and trees........

Further south we travelled through Dubbo and Parkes where Larry got a quick photo of the big dish in the distance...........
and a reminder that Parkes is the home of the annual Elvis Festival..........
Larry continued enjoying the camera while I was driving and he wanted to share with you how many caravans there are on the road...he calls them snails!!........

When it was his turn to drive again I was busy cutting......a new quilt design!........
It is good to be reminded of the need to rest.........
Late this afternoon we arrived for our next 'sleep' stop in the town of Narrandera. This is our third overnight visit and it is a town we both love. I love some of the buildings and of course Larry loves the cricket ground, so we went for a very chilly walk as the sun was setting and took some photos on the phone............

So we are all tucked up snuggly and warm in our motel room with the prospect of only two more days of driving before we are home. Thanks for dropping by and sharing in our adventures x

  2. yes we get a little numb after traveling don't we! When we travel we make a point of it to stop every two hours and take a short walk around the rest areas or pull in a large parking lot to park and walk in a store (yes we have one of the snails lol) it is so nice to see so many things though isn't it - some you might have seen another time and some new.

  3. I'm off to get my map and trace your travels. Thanks for the armchair travel day. It's very hot right now. The last two days the temps have been 103 and 104. Enjoy the cold.

  4. Just goes to show you that Mr Google doesn't know everything, as I grew up with that saying too! Would love to be touring the country in one of those snails, but happy to be doing what I am instead, lovely touring with you, thankyou xxxx
