Tuesday October 4th......
Our day began with mist and dampness but soon the sun came out to reveal Buscot Park. It is here that we view the magnificent Briar Rose paintings from Burne-Jones and we also have an informative lecture from a NADFAS member and Oxford graduate - Denis Moriarty and of course all about William Morris. A walk through the grounds is always pleasurable but no photos inside this time.........
Some of the lovely friends who joined us from home........
The gardens always delight no matter what the season and this time there were Autumn blooms amongst the vegetables with the four seasons statues looking on.........
we had a quick stop in Broadway before our special event at Broadway Tower........
It was rather cold and chilly and very windy on the top.........and that isn't me with Larry but special friend Faye....I had to look twice!
The drinks and nibbles served on the level devoted to William Morris were a treat and some canapés were even in the shape of the tower! It was here that William Morris spent weekends and it is recorded that he bathed on the roof!
This is one of my favourite meals of the tour....called "supper" rather than dinner in the UK....we call it tea here at home with dinner being more formal and perhaps a little later. It was delicious.......
The new moon greeted us at the end of a magnificent day........
So as I type this tour catch-up Larry is having a "jet lag afternoon nap".....as for me.....I've done three loads of washing and captured the garden that has come into bloom while we've been away. More soon......
love that tower at the end of your post it looks very unique to me so pretty. Glad you had friends able to join in the trip
