Shortly I am going to pick up Beau and Maisie as I need to do some more photocopying for the tour so I thought they could help me before we have an afternoon together - just the three of us to see the new movie Christopher Robin. Larry plans to watch the state football final on the TV so I thought with my lack of enthusiasm for the football I would find something else to do!! I hope the movie doesn't disappoint. I still have my childhood books and as you can see they have been very well loved! This 5th Australian edition published in 1948 of Now We Are Six still has a plastic cover and my name that my late Mum applied.....
I see Mum also wrote our address and left the 8 shillings and sixpence price inside!......
When We Were Very Young cost 12 shillings and sixpence and was a 1953 edition...what treasures for me personally. My all time favourite was 'Forgiven' all about Alexander beetle being let out of a box by 'Nanny' and I still love it today........
As usual I am off track so back to a little William Morris! I came across this wonderful site on the Internet a few days ago......
Ostermaims Textiles is a shop full of Morris in Stockholm Sweden!
Their Instagram site is full of the most delicious William Morris images and well worth a look. It was this treasure that I saw on facebook that led me to them - what fun.....How I would love to visit the store and while in Sweden we could also visit the 'Back to Paradise' Morris exhibition at the Millesgarden Museum in Herserudsvagen that will be opening February 16th next year until June 9th. There is also currently a photographic exhibition being held at The William Morris Society in London with previously unseen photos of Morris and his family (and more). Then we could take the train to Edinburgh to see the Liberty Art Fabrics and Fashion exhibition at Dovecot Studios which of course includes some more Morris. This exhibition concludes on January 12th..........
Here in Australia at the National Gallery in Canberra there will be a spectacular exhibition of 40 Pre Raphaelite works from the Tate London - Love and Desire and I know our Art Gallery's huge Adoration tapestry will be travelling there. The exhibition runs from December 14th to April 28th next year. It will be worth a visit as many works have never been seen in Australia before (I've seen them in the UK - lucky me!).....
So that is my brief reference to Morris for today...more next week on tour. Larry and I did have another trip to the city a few days ago to pick up tour brochures and this time we saw a little of Adelaide that we don't frequent very often........
really????............
we will be here on Wednesday with 20 tourists........
and then I asked if Larry would like to see the old hospital before it is all gone so as we walked to the other end of the city I found these gorgeous gowns hanging outside the Art Gallery.......
possibly to celebrate this intriguing installation inside for the current solo Exhibition from a Japanese artist - Chiharu Shiota who often uses enormous webs of thread. Then I found here that the dresses are in fact from the same artist. So I popped in quickly for a look at one of the other installations......
When we arrived at the old hospital site an enormous machine with a huge claw was slowly demolishing the top floor. All rather surreal......
I hope all is well in your part of the world.....back soon with some more Morris!
love all the photos you share and I was still in the land of WiFi this morning checking blogs on my computer before I pack it away as we get ready for our next leg of our trip and most likely little to no wifi for the next couple days or more.
