The first dreaded phone call came about an hour ago from Australia Post......"the investigation on my missing parcel is closed". This is the first missing large box that had some of these items in it along with design books, notes, fabric and much more (some items I cannot recall at the moment)
And this is the photo from that last workshop with Bunbury Quilters in Western Australia.....you can see some of the quilts on the back wall
I have a knot in my stomach and my heart is racing...I feel so let down by someone???
So I am asking a huge favour "out there". If any of you are reading this and have done any of these items in a class maybe I could perhaps borrow them? One friend has already made me the Peacock quilt (thankyou Denise X). I share my patterns around the world and ask for nothing in return so I wonder what better karma can I spread???!!! If you have been one of those lucky ones you might like to make me a little sample. It does not have to be finished. In return I will send you any pattern your heart desires.
And finally a little giveaway............This quilt is in the SECOND package missing and still under investigation. So to create some warm feelings of optimism I am going to give away four complete sets of the pattern to make the quilt in a lucky draw - and I am sorry if you already have it :-(
Oh, Michelle, I am so sorry for you....I don't think Aussie Post should close cases at all till the package is found!.....it seems an employee may have known of the contents and the parcel didn't get past first base...how sad, and I hope that person pops it all in the mail to you so they can clear their guilty conscience...I wish I could help replace your lost items but sadly i haven't got patterns for any of these.....and speaking of patterns i would love to go into your draw to win the quilt set of patterns....such a very generous gift to offer...my fingers are crossed for you that the package contents turn up somehow.....chin up.... and I hope you are able to focus on some Christmas festive spirit to lift your mood......
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't mind Michelle, but I have shared your post on Facebook. I hope people will see this and help.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Tonia
I was so lucky to be able to do one of your classes with Waverley Patchworkers but have to admit that I haven't yet finished my project! So here is the motivation to get in there and get it finished so it can have a holiday at your house!
ReplyDeleteMichelle that is dreadful.. i was sure it would just turn up . The stuff i have is probably too old , as in The floral folk art (I changed 3 or 4 of the panels so there were no repeats ,I have Morris Revisited (hand appliqued and machine stippled. My Morris Floral Sampler didn't get finished as i mucked up the "on point" setting triangles. I am still waiting for inspiration to fix it.I also have 2 of the cushions stuck down but not stitched. If any are useful you would be welcome. The boxes are out there and someone must know where. Maybe hit the newspapers or current affair
ReplyDeleteJust horrifying. I started the artichoke pillow for you this morning and hope to have it finished for you this week. I don't know where the other patterns can be found but if you let me know I will do a wallhanging too.
ReplyDeletePlease enter me for the giveaway.
Please send your packages under someone elses name and to someone else. Someone is stealing from you.
I just found out about the website http://lostquilt.com/ . You may want to add your to the horrifying list.
ReplyDeleteI'm Sorry it's Not Good News so far..Fingers Crossed it may still turn up..I would Love to help you out with stome stitching but I don't have any of those patterns.
ReplyDeletecheers
xx
This is terrible news. How can they close the case when the package has not been found? It should be open and actively pursued since you have had recurring instances of theft. I wish I had time to start a project for you today but I'm swamped. Maybe after Christmas I could?
ReplyDeleteIt breaks my heart to hear of all your beautiful work missing. The cost of hours spent and value is huge.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed - maybe the magic of Christmas will work and they will both turn up. Thinking positively
ReplyDeleteI'd love to help too but I think all of my patterns are older ones. I hope the other parcels turn up at least.
ReplyDeleteI am so, so sorry. I mentioned your troubles on Bonnie
ReplyDeleteHunters blog, quiltville , last evening. She was speaking of a stolen quilt and you came to mind....
I do hope you use the power of the www. To get word out so at least whoever has these beauties can not display them freely. Terrible. I wont go into details, but here in the sates there are people who have a sense of entitlement. Praying for you.
I am so sad, reading your posts, and I wish I had the skill to help you out, Michele, because I whole-heartedly would! what a horrible loss and I am so so sorry. But you can count on my love, my deepest admiration and my sincerest prayers for the courage to face the loss and the frustration, and for the quilts to be found and returned safely to you. ( and when I grow up as a quilter, I would like a to be like Jill, thank you so much for the inspiration, Michele!) I'll help to spread the word, you never know! warm regards from Valentina in Cyprus
ReplyDeleteOh Michele so sorry to read you have lost more of your wonderful work....or it has been lost for you! Just dreadful news. Hoping that the parcels may still turn up. Miracles happen at Christmas don't they?
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your loses. The quilt is absolutely beautiful. I'm sure someone in the Post knows where your things are. Boxes don't just go missing, unless they were helped. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
ReplyDeleteMy stomach is in knots reading your post, I do hope that they do show up in the near future. My heart goes out to you.
ReplyDeleteOh no, how dreadful. My heart goes out to you. All the work, memories and love that is put into a quilt, it seems almost unbearable to imagine it just "lost". I will send up good thoughts that they are returned to you.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it the parcel still hasn't turned up. Australia Post has "closed" the investigation... unbelievable. You are a generous soul, it just shouldn't happen. Take care of yourself (fingers crossed the parcel turns up)
ReplyDeleteI am a huge believer in karma. It just has to turn up - perhaps when no-one expects it to. Good luck with the search. You are so generous hosting a giveaway - when I'm sure there is a part of you that just wants to be upset with the world.
ReplyDeleteThere are no words for what has happened with your quilts, if I can assist in anyway please don't hesitate to ask
ReplyDeleteOh Michele....I just can't believe this has happened to you...I am so very sorry...we all have our fingers crossed, with any luck your precious pieces will turn up...
ReplyDeleteI am a new lover of William Morris Quilts and I am sick for you. I hope that they come back to you!!
