What will 2018 bring?

As another year commences one wonders what adventures and memories it will bring. Life is so rarely predictable but plans are still put in place and this year we are looking forward to little Wade finally coming home. In May we will be celebrating 40 years of marriage so might go somewhere special for that! Of course we have the William Morris Tours to look forward to and a visit to Norfolk Island in March.  So another Christmas has gone and for us it was a quiet one with thoughts of little Wade still in hospital. We were hoping for a visit but sadly he succumbed to a virus and was in isolation for a week. The family came for brunch full of croissants and pancakes but I forgot to take any photos! Of course the unwrapping of presents and the stories from Beau and Maisie of the reindeer eating the carrots and Santa leaving gifts makes one smile. Sophie also sent some photos on Christmas night from the hospital which will be treasured forever......

He has a couple of little hurdles this week and then fingers crossed we are hoping he will be home at the end of the week. Some other members of the family succumbed to the same virus Wade had including myself and I have felt unwell for almost a week with the most awful fatigue resulting in lots of lying around and then getting a spark and over doing it! Part of the spark was rearranging the kiddies room for their new little cousin so of course there was a domino effect in the other rooms......
A large bookshelf fitted perfectly in the sliding robe and I am not sure why I didn't do that years ago......
The rearranging seemed to work.......
Yesterday I spent much of the day sleeping and today decided my energy levels were back again enough to take down all the Christmas decorations but it sure looks bare without them........

So many memories with each decoration some hand stitched by friends and some from our trips to the UK and even Iceland........
My birthday/Christmas present will be coming in a few weeks.....some new bi-fold doors to the office/sewing room and I can't wait.......

Even while feeling unwell I did manage some sewing including a small eye spy quilt for Wade. I decided to hand quilt it using perle cotton which is very restful in the evenings in front of the TV......

I also followed the woodland theme that Sophie and Tim have done for Wade's nursery and hand stitched these felt friends to hang on his wall. I bought the digital pattern online - it was so easy and instant and fabulous instructions too from "Little Stuff".....
So the new calendars are up and Larry is relaxing in the best possible way. We hope you are relaxing as well and that 2018 brings lots of happy times x

  1. My wish to your family is for a very happy new year and the continued improvement of little Wade's health, he is so tiny but growing. He will be fine, just a small setback after all he has been through I am positive he will get over this. Sorry you have not been well but it will improve, sewing is a good medicine.
Hope to catch up with around the place sometime.. Love, Jean 💕😀

  2. your hand stitching looks wonderful! so glad to hear that little Wade even though suffering a virus continues to grow and improve I so hope he will be able to go home with his parents soon even though at home he will need to be watched carefully for some time until he gains a bit of weight. I need to take my Christmas things down - I haven't started yet but over the next couple of days it will get done. happy New year to you and hope you feel better soon

  5. Totally agree with Larry's way of relaxing. So sorry to hear all were sick. A nasty stomach flu is going around here. So far, we have avoided it. Wade looks so precious in his Christmas attire. Here's praying he will get to go home and continue to thrive and grow. Hope you are better soonest. Blessings in this new year,
