and today's even more so (remember to click on the image to get a closer look)........
As we recently heard of the devastating fires in California and then today the mud slides we don't forget that it is not all happiness all of the time. But happiness for us is that after 10 weeks in hospital little Wade is finally home. He is still so very little and we know has hurdles ahead, but what a joy it was to see Beau and Maisie finally meet their little cousin..........
Maisie is a natural and I am sure will be a third generation nurse..........
but happiness is also knowing this happened at her home and not ours!!.......
And yes happiness is definitely my roses even if they were a little burnt from the recent hot sun! I picked a bunch today to take to a dear Aunt who is unwell but what joy they brought as we reminisced and shared in photos and stories.........
Happiness is this unbelievably beautiful new piece for our garden lovingly made by a very dear friend. When I asked for a dovecote I did now expect such a splendid one - Larry calls it a 5 star dovecote and I adore it - thankyou Gary! We have a pair of spotted doves that live in the garden that nested in our rose arch last year (and also some gorgeous crested pigeons that keep us company as well). So all we need to do is get the upright for the dovecote organised and then show the doves the way.......
Happiness is also seeing the unexpected in the garden courtesy of the birds doing their own propagation.........
happiness is also being able to pop outside to pick fresh herbs when cooking........
We are still waiting for the raspberries to appear though! But happiness is acorns blooming that I retrieved last year from the oak tree we used to climb over 50 years ago on my childhood property..........
Happiness is also this miniature ground cover violet that is now cascading over a wall........
Happiness is finishing Wade's quilt and loving the texture that only hand quilting can bring.......
Happiness is writing all about the history of our William Morris Collection in Adelaide in preparation for the tours in just 3 months..........
and finally happiness is my basket and birthday vouchers all packed and ready with ideas for my first crochet classes next week!
Michelle I am so happy for your family that little Wade is finally home-you all must be beyond excited I hope little Wade will grow quickly now that he is surrounded by his family - the children look so excited to see the baby don't they. The hand quilted quilt looks lovely. I have found that I like big stitch while working on the flannel quilt and having done the Postage Stamp quilt that way too - I think my fingers no longer do the tiny stitches as well.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 10 years of blogging and so glad I found you about 6+ years ago when I got one of your books.
How lovely to see all the children together. Definitely the best happiness! Each time you mention the William Morris tours this year I think of the day we spent with you in 2014 and the time enjoying the WM pieces - particularly the Adoration of the Magi tapestry. I have never seen anything like it and often get the book I purchased at the Art Gallery out to enjoy it once more. You are a wonderful tour guide!
ReplyDeleteWonderful news that Wade is finally at home with his family. Enjoy the crochet.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful post, Michelle - a reminder of how it's the little things in our lives that bring happiness. Oh so happy Wade is home with his family. Prayers continue for his growing health and size.
ReplyDeleteLovely post Michele, glad Wade is home, he has grown so much, can't wait to meet my next little one, congrats on 10 years, and don't stop sharing your own thoughts and family on the blog. xxxx
ReplyDeleteJust joy on every picture and I celebrate with you for your 10 years of wonderful blogging. Wade is so precious as his cousins are finding out and yes, what a loving nurse and mother Maisie will be. Lovely to see your world.
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful news! Thank you for sharing your happiness with us.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, it is so lovely to hear of the wonderful achievement of spending times still with your nursing friends and the milestone of 44 years of doing it. Congratulations. Little Wade, well how wonderful that he is able to come home and be with the family. I am sure he will now thrive being surrounded by all that family love in his own surroundings.
ReplyDeleteAnd as strange as it sounds the whole tone of your post tells how relaxed you are sounding. You definitely sound so much happier and enjoying your slower pace. Good on you, it is fabulous to know your are starting to feel better, all so good for your health. Take care, Deb (NZ)
