Thankyou so much for all your emails and incredible support. I am truly humbled and despite disliking the quilt after all these months, I will enjoy the journey. I hope when it comes back to me at the end of next year I will like it once again! xx

Best of Show 2013
The last four days I have been in a daze….I still can't believe I have been so lucky and received Best of Show once again! Seeing it hang for the very first time revealed a couple of omissions in my embroidery, but it is too late now as it can't be touched before judging next year here! Maybe sometimes these omissions are just confirmation of my 'non perfection performance and practice'!! So here are a few photos……….

That is absolutely beautiful - in the truest form of the word. If it ever gets tired of show life and wants to run away, I'll give you my address:) Stunning workmanship!

Thank you for the photos - it's even more beautiful than in your last post. Wow.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Michelle. A wonderful quilt and amazing workmanship. I love the embroidery and your colours are stunning, Barbara from over the ditch (NZ)
ReplyDeleteWow Michele, what a show stopper! You have certainly proved what a diverse needlewoman you are. Congratulations and well deserved. I look forward to one day seeing it "in the flesh"
ReplyDeleteWay to go!! Truly a work of art. I could study it for hours. Well deserved and I am proud to know you. Margaret in Texas

ReplyDeleteIt has the look of an ancient tapestry and whether you like it or not Michelle , this truly is a "work of art", You may never have to live with it if it goes on a World tour and gets "acquired" by some gallery or museum. Enjoy the accolades, i believe you have made SA guild history , being the first to achieve 4 Best in show's . Congratulations !
congrats on a gorgeous quilt! with awesome ribbons! really gorgeous and well worth it. You will welcome it like a warm friend when you get it back again.
ReplyDeleteIt is even lovlier close up, I am so happy for you. The omissions were surely deliberate, the Amish always make a mistake in their quilts, as in their eyes, only God is perfect.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Michele. I'll be looking forward to seeing all your beautiful work when the quilt tours to Victora.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Michele. It is stunning!
ReplyDeleteI just love the ancient look to it. Can't wait to see it in person.
By the way check out Barbara brackmans Material Culture blog. You have a big mention.

I am sure there are some of us who would give the quilt a home if you don't ever like it again, but I suspect that absence will make the heart grow fonder. Beautiful quilt by a lovely lady.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the name of this quilt? I seem to have missed it. I know we will see more of it in times to come and I suspect it will become known by its name. It is a glorious quilt.
ReplyDeleteUhm, WOW.
