Creative Quilters in Cohuna

The weekend has been full of creativity and a lot of laughs! The Country Quilters weekend in Cohuna never disappoints and I have already booked the cabin to return next year - only I am going to be sitting and sewing - no teaching. For me that is just fab! (as you would say Helen!!). We gather at mealtimes and this includes waiting to hear if you have won a raffle prize............

...and then it is a mad dash to claim the prize you really wanted........
all those tickets and a winner on our table..........
....yes it was the delightful Jan Preston!!
The tutors this year included Dijanne Cevaal below on the left. I call her the 'arty farty one' as she produces amazing art quilts. Dijianne was such fun especially sharing her story of the time her hens and chickens became accidentally drunk!! Then there is the gorgeous Jan Preston on the right who always has time for a gentle hug and a story. I think the girls in her class had an amazing therapy session all based around Japanese work.....it is always lovely to spend time with Jan....
And also time well spent with the talented Linda Steele below left...she is the quiet one with the gorgeous smile. Always so helpful and charming which is reflected in the amazing hand embroidery she does on her quilts. The tutor team also included Mariya Waters on the right. Mariya is always finding new products and ways of doing things and the work her students achieve is amazing as are her quilts! (thanks for the samples and the ear plugs Mariya!)
The final member of the teaching team (apart from yours truly) was the lovely Annette Blake. Annette is known for her beautiful traditional quilts but she is also very shy - but I did manage one quick shot.......
So to the outcome of the classes.....first is a view of the amazing landscapes from Mariya's class (and many students had already left to go home so only a few to show from each class)........
 Linda's machine quilting class.........
some of the girls from my classes......(and Linda standing in for her friend Sue!)

Jan Preston showing us the sashiko and japanese work........

 .....Dijanne's art quilts........

and Annette's beginners class with many traditional blocks. Thank goodness someone is teaching for 'newbies'......

Some girls did "sit and sew" and it looks like they achieved an incredible amount........

I could not leave out some other things that we partake in as well...........(!!)

The entertainment is always entertaining to say the least!!.........

We have thankfully (and finally) had good rains.....but boy did it rain and rain and rain. In this region alone we had over 3 inches (about 75mms). So this evening the trees are showing that their leaves have all gone and the skies are lurking with more pending moisture. Tomorrow I am spending a special day with the organising committee so just two more sleeps before we head home on the long 8 hour plus drive. So until next time I hope that the weather in your part of the world is all it should be and that you are safe and well xx
