and the foggy sign says only 860kms to home..........
It was a very chilly 5C outside...........
and then suddenly we could see the road ahead on our way across the infamous Hay Plain.......
But there were lots of trees before we finally hit the plains.......
and cotton fields that had recently been harvested. An optical illusion was captured by Larry where the red field was in fact made up of farrows...........
Cotton in bails..........
While Larry was happily snapping away I wondered what he was capturing seeing as there is not much to see! But it was apparently the different colours of the road! Yes it is a tad boring out on the Hay plain!.........
And then "I've captured the highest point" he exclaimed!!.........
As we reached the town of Hay we noticed some vineyards that we haven't seen before........we didn't think there would be enough water out there for that.....
and there in the middle of town was some cotton on its way.........
We found a delightful cafe open for our morning coffee (most were closed being a Sunday). This is a new venture run by a mother and daughter - Cotton Wool Crema.......a most appropriate name and the coffee was divine........
I found some more lovely historic buildings in Hay........
From time to time a plane would fly low overhead.......
and more of that wide sweeping plain.........
Larry reminded me that we've traveled through four states in 13 days and tonight we are in Mildura, Victoria.......
After we unpacked the car we decided a walk was in order but this time I used the phone for photos........
It was great to see all the recent development at the new Mildura wharf alongside the Murray River.........
There is a lovely new mosaic installation that reflects the people and surroundings of Mildura. It was completed by Badger Bates who was born in Wilcannia, a town we visited almost 2 weeks ago.......
Just as we headed back to the car we noticed a hot air balloon on its descent so a perfect way to finish the day............
Tomorrow we only have 420kms to go before we reach home. So we will bid you farewell and hope wherever you are that life is as good for you as it is for us x
