I decided some weeks back that I couldn't possibly write an Autumn newsletter until it was really Autumn as it has felt like Summer until a few days ago. The worrying part is our lack of rain and the state's reservoirs are the lowest they have been in 40 years. The plants are confused especially the trees but yesterday we finally had a sprinkle and other parts of the state even more. But life goes on and one needs to find joy where one can....
The farmers are desperate for rain and the wildlife are suffering. One evening we captured a mob of kangaroos who found nourishment on the lawns in front of our local library..........
Since my last post on December 14th we have had Christmas and holidays with the younger ones....
If we are not out and about I can always be found creating in my sewing space and this time it was stitching goodies to sell at Lot 50 Yankalilla's Easter market. I am so grateful to those who came especially friends who made purchases...thankyou.......
On the William Morris front I am very excited and honoured to be a small part of a three month exhibition entitled Morris & Co. An Adelaide Obsession at historic Carrick Hill. To see some of my quilts displayed amongst original Morris & Co work is a surreal experience. Nydia and Ken of Thorngrove Manor kindly loaned their quilt for the exhibition that I made some years back for them............
There are many never seen before exquisite silk embroideries and it is well worth a visit........

I also managed to see another extended exhibition in Adelaide's Botanic Gardens a few weekends ago. I took way too many photos but these are just a few.........
It is school holidays once again and we had the three younger people join us for three nights last week. One day at lunch we were served flower/leaf salad followed by mud cake (quite literally!!), and a fruit smoothie. It won't be long until these will be just a memory as they mature so fast.......
Larry is back in hospital next week so our fingers are crossed that the immunotherapy is doing its job. Unfortunately being immune compromised he did recently suffer with shingles, so he has had a few weeks of fatigue and pain. Our thoughts are with another friend who is currently isolated in hospital for 3-4 weeks having undergone a stem cell transplant. I stitched her a comfort quilt as my way of telling her we are thinking of her..........
I am guessing the next newsletter will be well into Winter so let's hope the rain forecast is better for everyone. I may see some of you out and about maybe at Carrick Hill, or a local quilt show or even in the Riverland on July 26th for the Loxton Quilters Rural Gathering. Till next time take care x
