A day in Quebec
Sorry but this is going to be a very long blog - I have taken over 100 photos today and in just 6 hours! It is has been quite chilly....currently 2.30 in the afternoon and just 4 degrees! The wind has also been very blustery at 60 km/hr so all those beautiful autumn leaves will soon be gone. We had a city tour this morning and learned to pronounce Quebec as is should be...."kebec". 98% of all residents in Quebec speak French so everything everywhere is in that language....one would think we were in Paris. On one of our stops we visited a park preparing to resurrect the spirits for halloween.............well apparently!

We learnt much about the history of Quebec - something I don't remember doing at school. We were also told that there are around 600 cannons around the city.
After a brief walking tour (under the umbrellas!), we ventured on to the Old Quebec Funicular which connects the lower (old) city to the upper (new city).

There is a massive cruise ship in the harbour - apparently there were nine of them last week including the Queen Mary.....they actually ran out of buses to ferry all the passengers around the city - had to use school buses!
And I thought red backs were only in Australia!
Besides the horse and cart you can take one of these wee buses for just a dollar around the city. They are all electric and hold just 20 passengers - such an economical idea........

ReplyDeleteI love the red trees among the other fall colored leaves, like a zinger. Tomorrow you might want to be on the look out for a Maple Leaf - a Canadian Maple Leaf - the size of almost two hands, in fall colors of course. Have to admit that this post has put Quebec on my travel list next Sept-Oct!!
