Strike three - Australia Post OUT!

It has happened AGAIN..........this quilt is now missing in the mail. It was in someone else's care and posted back to me the first week of October...that is 8 weeks ago. It has extreme sentimental value as it was lovingly made by Jill who passed away last week (see previous post). Our friend Judy Simcock also beautifully quilted it. So if anyone knows anything please let me know....I think a trip to the police might be my next course of action as Australia Post don't seem to give a .......

  1. Oh No! This is so valuable as a work of art, plus the sentimental value. I hope you get it back. It's absolutely beautiful.

  2. Oh no, that's just awful!! At least if it was a quilt you made yourself you would rant and rave and would be very unhappy about it but then you could just get in and make a replacement, but the sentimental value of this one is irreplaceable! It's awful when someone takes something that is so personal.

  3. Oh, I can't believe this keeps happening to you, Michele. It's terribly sad that such a special quilt is missing. I agree you should go to the police now - perhaps there's some scam going on at the PO. Awful.

  4. having jad an article go astray in the mail. The person who posted it has to fill in a Aust Post lost report (or some name like that). When that has been done Aust Post are supposed to investigate. Mine article went to a similar stree name in a suburb 25ks away and I finally received it 4 months down the track. Look for similar street names in surrounding suburbs maybe it will be found this way. The Aust Post contractor did not read the address properly as my suburb starts with M the suburbs delivered to starts with P. Go figure

  5. The parcel post person who delivered to the next suburb to us wasn't delivering much... They 'raided' his house and found a room and garage full of undelivered stuff... Police were involved in that.. I always insure everything I post now, it costs not much more and is peace of mind... I've not had anything registered and over insured go missing... 'touch wood'.. I hope you get to the bottom of this real soon... You'll have to get the sender to fill in the paperwork and you can also ring Australia post number... They were helpful in tracking Dow. Something I posted express.. Took two weeks...

  6. Michelle, I have shared this on Facebook to gain some publicity, but you need to go to the police. I have a rule as a mail order business; one lost parcel to the same address is possible, two is extremely unlikely, more is theft. I have had a few situations where either a postal worker, a neighbour or the individual has not been honest. Something is going on near you. Good luck resolving this

  7. So sorry to hear of Jill's passing. Also I can't believe that you have yet another quilt go missing. How absolutely shocking it is. Love Francie xx

  8. I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you again!! Maybe the police should start questioning the post office people because apparently someone there knows the value of your work and is intercepting your mail! In addition to losing all that beautiful work, the sentimental value cannot be replaced. I hope an investigation reveals the culprit and you get all your quilts returned to you!!

  9. This is just tragic. It is a beautiful quilt and the quilting is over the top! Wishing you the best luck in the world!

  10. Did the person who sent it get insurance ? If so it can be tracked on the Internet. The main GPO will get to the bottom of it as they are Australia Post not a franchise. That quilt is the most beautiful, I love it. Margaret.

Yes I think the Police should be brought in and let Aust Post know about it...

  13. I feel terrible for you! I would be spitting nails!
Well, here there is no point insuring anymore unless you have receipts for each and eery thing and then you labor is not counted...its pointless.
So, what i do is get a tracking number and send return receipt and mark it PERISHABLE!!
You can track on the computer and they dont know what is in it , i didnt insure it...
What a shame. So, so sorry.
I do think you've got a problem though, not normal.... Someone knows something somewhere.
Offer a rewArd, it will surface
Keeping you in my thoughtz and prayers

  14. Go to the Police first and then the Media. It's amazing how quickly things get resolved once it been plastered all over the TV News. Someone is definitely stealing your quilts.

  17. Someone said that perhaps the culprit knows what you do. They suggested going to other post offices where you are not known when mailing out. I am so sorry this happened. It sure is a nasty world we live in.

  19. Your generous nature Michelle does not deserve the off-hand treatment from Australia Post. Your work is instantly recognisable, please make it too hot to handle. Yes it is valuable but not to the theif. Get your images out in the local media and to the wider community.
May the joy that you bring to others help bring the quilts back to you

  20. I read on Marie's page that you have had quilts stolen in the Post. What a dreadful thing to happen. You would swear we lived in a third world country. Were they insured?
